Item of the Day Discussion Thread
I thought it would be nice to have one consolidated "Item of the Day" discussion thread Instead of bits and pieces of dialog spread out all over the forum, I hope everyone agrees.
Currently the item offered is the ghost, 12.2% bonus for 195MB. Over the weekend we got an extra 6% of bonus from the Tree of Wisdom for five extra beans so this one doesn't seem to be a great deal unless you REALLY want one for your theme. Anyone know what the original price for this was?
On the one hand, this would look great in my swamp. On the other hand.... GRIFFIN!

Definite pass on the ghost for me then. Lurker and I are thinking the same thing, the upcoming griffin item may be a must-have. I have a feeling that will be the weekend item at some point.

2. Raarg Clubmenot, the Ogre, 175mb, 16.1% bonus
3. Hugo, the hippo, 120mb, 10.3%
4. Chomper, "won't eat villagers walking about", 65mb, 5% bonus
5. Tree of Wisdom, 200mb, 18.8% bonus
6. Dragon Egg Nest, contains magical eggs, 80mb, 6.4% bonus
7. Griffin, majesic creature, 440mb, 47.9% bonus
8. Viking Long House, "most epic lookng house", houses 7 villagers plus 2, does not count against housing limit, 95mb
9. Majic Trunk, holds 125K of each resource, 135mb, (think I may have seen this one too as an item of the day purchase)
10. Cthulhu, visits your land from the murky depths of an underwater city, 290mb, 24.4% bonus

store and I just missed them. If not, I hope Z2 doesn't close my
account for letting the cat out of the bag. Another consideration is
that Z2 decided these items are deprecated as they have done in the past
with other items.
Is griffin for both classic and frontier? I'm maxed in classic but frontier needs more help. What is or who is griffin? Lol

I don't think it really matters what the original price of an item of the day was, if the sale price is Still bad.
Personally, "bad" to me means too far from 1 MB : 0.1% ratio (or 10MB:1%). If you look at the list above, most of them are close to, or even better than that. Two weekends ago, Sam (shepherd dog for Frontier) went on sale for like 65 beans (memory may be off a bit, might have been 70) and he gives 7%; so bought one for all my nations lol.

I was happy with the Magic Shop and the Tree of Wisdom so far, other than that I I don't get overly excited about most items of the day. I do kind of regret not getting Cthulhu though. That is a cool looking item.

Half lion, half eagle if I'm not mistaken. It'll look pretty sweet I think.
I hope they have another bean sale before this one. I decided to finally buy some beans in this past weekend's sale, and by the time I went to buy them, the sale was over. How often are these sales? Tapjoy seems to be tapped out for the time being.
I don't think they have sales very often, I've been playing for nearly two months and this past weekend was the only significant sale I remember. I bought two of the sale packages to boost bonus and fame. From what I've read on here so far they don't happen often enough.
I too am hoping that the griffin is available in FL - that the apparition today was available in both classic and frontier gives me hope. And thinking I would get a griffin, I took advantageof the weekend MB sale. Gryphon is the original spelling of griffin, a legendary creature with the head, talons, and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion.
I'm holding out for Hugo (or two) for my zoo and the Dragon's egg nest for my little GOT corner in the Frontier.

@FrozenInferno - Chtulhu (or Chewy) showed up unexpectedly on April's Fool's Day as a great prank from Z2.
The giant one replaced the Citadel/Castle/Fort
The small ones were actually the weekly-rewards-turned-Chewy (turkey, Twitch, dragon)

The limited release items being offered as item of the day always seems to carry a higher price than they were originally. The newer items are better bonus value. I would say the limited items may return again at their 'time' eg Halloween unless they are replaced with new ones?

New items are out: Leonardo the turtle in classic for 33MB and the Hotel in frontier for 350MB. It sounds like the hotel deal is pretty good, 30% off.
I thought that too, but I'm still not sure about the hotel... It doesn't actually attract visitors does it? Or have I missed something?
The hotel seems pretty useless to me. Lots of gold and experience but...at the level you have to be to get the darned thing you don't actually need the gold and exp that bad. Seems like a crazy lot of beans still, even at 33% off. But that's just me.
@Frogmommy: If you could set those loose to bounce around your village, I'd have a dozen of them!
I have a question about the item today - it is the hotel, which in the menu you must be level 76 to build. I am just level 74 so can I still buy it or once it takes my beans is it going to tell me I cant place it because I'm not high enough level?
It may be a mute point because after now reading this thread I think I want to save my MB for the griffin anyway! LOL
Unless you have some sort of design in mind for the hotel that you just have to have it, I wouldn't pay 350 MB for it. The gold/XP it generates aren't that good. But I had a design in mind I just had to have it for, so I paid 500 MB and I may just be bitter.
In the FB/TN game the hotel holds up to 3 visitors at a time.
I don't know about the Griffin, I'll hold for the chomper......, it might even be green!

I have to say, usually I'm pretty good about my bean spending-really looking at an item and waiting too buy it, but these items of the day are doing me in-as I'm sure Z2Live intended. I've been telling myself for hours "Must not buy turtle just because it unlocks something",,, over and over. And I'm getting weak, need help, LOL. I don't even like turtles too much.
