Hi,
Sorry to interrupt your fame collection routine, but what would you recommend as a good sci fi series?
Thanks

Oh yes stargate atlantis is my favourite :-)
Sliders was fun too
I heard negative feedback about stargate universe and I did not buy it. Was it any good?

sgu was like bsg. you needed to give it a little time to mesh, but once it did it was awesome!!!! it's so sad they ended it so soon. what i don't understand is why the can keep something like sanctuary going and get rid of sgu. makes no sense to me. was like firefly going away.

anyway, to the original post, there are several great book series if you want to pm me and let me know what you've already read. i can see if i have any other suggestions for you.

on the off chance you're not going to live forever, why not try being happy today. :)

pm me if you want to add, toomuch is not my village name.

Do you mean to read or to watch? Because true nerds get their read on, but to continue in the same vein as the answers that are already here...

To watch: Firefly!! Dr. Who, Battelstar Galactica. Older but still excellent were Quantum Leap, X-files, Red Dwarf. If you are looking for nostalgia, Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, The Greatest American Hero. The following link gives their top 50 best sci-fi shows and a brief blurb on the high/lows/impact on the genre. As they note, Buffy and Angel are not included as they are more fantasy. I don't entirely agree with the rankings, but it's a good list overall. http://tv.ign.com/articles/114/1143800p1.html

I loved sgu, My hope is still that someone will pick it up after the supposedly 3 years in stasis that they are going to go through. It is unlikely though, which is sad. The stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis and SGU are my favorite scifi series ever.

I agree with the above... SGU was good... It was more about the people and the way they reacted to each rather than being alot of action ( there was enough action though)... Shame it got cancelled..

Star trek voyager was excellent I need to get the box set of that one day...( good call drtyler)

And great shout by akvm quantum leap is a awesome program... A little cheesy though...

Looks like you're talking about tv specifically so My faves are Battlestar, Stargate, Star Trek. Firefly was epic but short-lived as was Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles. For shows that are still currently on I highly recommend Fringe. I think it's the best show on tv right now. It's sooo good. It's coming up on season 5 though and will probably be the last. I also love the Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon that's currently running. Its better than I expected it would be. There's supposed to be a TRON series that's starting with Elijah Wood but I haven't seen it yet. I hope it happens or is happening. Anyone seen it?

Tron: Uprising's first episode just aired on Disney XD this morning - didn't get a chance to see it.  Currently 2/3s of the way through the 4th season of Fringe, agree with Banana - this is a fantastic show, equivalent in my mind to the X-Files.  Ron Moore's Battlestar: Galactica is amazing television.  Star Trek is an old favorite, and actually I thought DS9 was right up there with TNG in terms of story and character development - too bad it won't ever make it to DVD - I read somewhere that it was filmed in a format incompatible with DVD or BluRay upconversion like what is being done with TNG currently - can someone confirm this? Firefly is a great (but too short) series - I've loved Whedon's shows for years, including Buffy and Angel.

I was going to mention Buffy and Angel but they're more fantasy than sic-fi so I refrained. But... since you mentioned them :) they are two of my all time favorite shows. Once I finally sat down and opened my mind and gave them a chance, I was hooked. I have a rather large DVD collection of tv series and for me you just can't get any better than the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe. I just watched a couple seasons of Angel last week. I even read the comics they have out now that are continuing the story. :)

Stargate Universe and Startrek Voyageur are my favourites.  We just finished the last episode of SGU and hope that someone out there will make a movie finale for it.  I do not feel that it ended satisfactorily.  We might try Deep Space Nine next.  I agree that Santuary doesn't really grab me in the same way that the Startrek and Stargate series do.

don't get me wrong...i watch sanctuary (as you probably do as well), but it's an act of desperation :P. i thought the ending to sgu was poignant, but i want it back bad! in that regard, it was not satisfactory at all!! lol

oh and i concur with the earlier comments about fringe. total addict here! really really wonderful series!

couple books:
--martin - song of ice and fire series
--sanderson - mistborn; way of kings (thick at first but ramps up after he gets through setting up the entire world so give it time)
--jordan - wheel of time
--rothfuss - kingkiller chronicles
--card - enders game
--herbert - dune

some better than others, but all solid. there are more, but that's a start and my wrist is starting to hurt! :)

Battlestar Galactica, Dr. Who, and DEFINITELY Firefly.

Don't add me.  I already have a LOT of neighbors from going to the parties.  "Trust me, I'm a genius"- Artemis Fowl

Farscape is good and on netflix. Don't get too mad at the end if you haven't already seen it.

ETA- I just noticed Doctor Who season 6 is up on netflix!!! I'm off to get my nerd on!

Change of heart, add me if you still shop trade, bonus 700/700, 200/200, 3 mills in classic for nostalgia.

ohhhh...i lost track of farscape a while ago. i should finish it.

there was a show i watched ages ago that i thought was a sleeper. it was on about the same period in time as farscape. it was called 'first wave' i believe. left the air too soon for me. the lead guy was really good looking, but that didn't seem to detract or make it cheesecake.

oh! speaking of netflix...does anyone watch 'the guild'??? it's soooo cute!!

We just discovered Touchwood on Netflix which is an offshoot of Dr. Who.  It is quite intriguing.  A team is in Cardiff Wales to find and capt;ure aliens from outer space and have just recruited a local police officer to help them.  Quite a surreal series.

I just finished Torchwood, tear rolling down my cheek!! It was great, just didn't want it to end. Yes all the Stargate series are awesome, and I actually just started Farscape, the main character is also from Stargate Atlantis. As for books, James Patterson has some pretty good books geared towards teens, Daniel X and Maximum Ride. Although that might not be your thing. I also really enjoyed The Host by Stephanie Meyer!! Hope this helps even some.
