Wife Left me over Trade Nations
Basically, she was pissed about how much time I spent on the game, and my faggot younger brother- who is 28 and lives at my house and has no job- showed her my village. She saw all the female names on my friends page and blew a gasket. She gets super jealous over my facebook female friends (many of which I have, indeed boned at one time or another) and this put her over the top. She doesnt even know that there's not much communication between TN friends, she just saw girls and went nuts. Anyway, she's seriously gone now, so i have tons of time to play trade nations, but let this be a warning to any of you who want to "keep" your wives.
Well how would you like to see this?

If you are sad about this, well.... There are tons of girls who play this game as your neighborhood attest. You might be able to find someone who shares your interest and perhaps start a sound relationship.
In all seriousness...if the whole marriage broke because of this game, chances are it had problems from before...the game was just the last drop as i have a feeling you invested tons of time in your village and not on her....

Judging by how she acted about you being friends with other women, she probably would have kept you from the outside world and made you a very sad and lonely person. I say good riddance to her, you don't seem too upset either, so you were obviously tired of how she was.

Personally I fail to see the point of this thread - is Anadrol looking for sympathy, support or is he just "pissed" in both senses of the word?
LordDark, not to downplay your feelings around this, but can you know exactly what Anadrol intends with his choice of words? We often bear the brunt of ill-conceived comments (not to mention that I make enough myself) but most don't notice . For instance, I don't particularly like humour that belittles and/or stereotypes women (or ethnicity) but I can still see the mostly benign intention in the humour. There is a fine line of course - and crossing it from either side takes us down a path we often just don't need to go. I'll cross that line for the cause of "greater" honour and integrity but not for pride.
There's a lot I could say about Anadrol and his predicament but a game forum is just not the place for it. Why someone wants to air their dirty laundry OR add to someone's pile here, in a forum, is beyond me! Don't get me wrong - I'm all for the difficult topics of discussion - just do it in an appropriate place like the chatroom - where context is more immediate and misunderstanding is quicker to clear up.

The usage of it for homosexual people only came about when they started burning them along with witches and such. And so 'throw another faggot on the fire' changed from throwing more wood on, to throwing people on there.
Some people just use it as a general insult now, he doesn't necessarily have a gay brother who he dislikes. Without knowing the full story you can't judge the guy.

How old are they? The way I see it, they are either too young to know (in which case you either explain it outright or use euphemisms and tell them not to use language such as boned or faggot) or old enough to know (even if you think they don't, most likely from what friends/siblings have said) in which case it doesn't matter.
I'm no person to tell you how to raise your kids, but my parents always answered questions I had, rather than keeping it from me of trying to bubble wrap me. If they didn't tell me I'd find it out from friends eventually anyway, and it's better to find out true and appropriate things from parents than incorrect and rude information from friends. Be it for the usage of certain words or for other topics.
Relationship problems happen so often now that if you are trying to protect your kids from that you cannot succeed. 100% guarantee that at least one of their friends has a separated family.
it's how the world is, you gotta accept that, doesn't mean you have to teach them that everything is ok, just that it does happen.
BTW, why is everyone here so anti-facebook? It's only full of sleaze if you are friends with sleazy people on there. In which case it's your own problem and about time you get some decent friends that don't act in such a way.
Trade nations is a family orientated game and so should be any web site dedicatrd to its promotion. My kids dont need to be exposed to peoples personal problems or opinions on here as they deal with enough problems in real life already. They are not protected from reality...in the real world.....but this is meant to be a GAME here. And i expect the moderators of this site and these forums to keep it family orientated or put a rating on the site so as not to expose children who play the game to adult opinions and language. My kids can deal with reality in the REAL world, not in a GAME thanks!!!!!

Yes it definitely a family site, as it should be for a fan-site for a G-rated game with such a diverse amount of players.
Perhaps a age regulated sub-forum for conversations that may not be considered family safe could be a good idea. But that shouldn't be necessary.
If they are open to reality and not bubble wrapped, then the OPs post shouldn't be an issue, considering the amount of sexual innuendo is some quite a few other posts on the site. All this one contains is a fairly standard relationship issue, a supposedly offensive word of which I have already disproven it's offensiveness, and a faily plain sexual comment. The only thing here which could be considered inappropriate is the last of the 3, but as I have said it depends on who is reading it, and how much they know.
I mean absolutely no offense to you or your parenting, and I wouldn't consider myself a good role model at times, but if what you state about them knowing about the real world is true, then this thread should not be an issue.
It is completely up to the parents to regulate their child's/children's usage of the Internet though, as it can be a very dangerous place. But as you say, this site should not require worry about such issues.
I totally agree with facebook being a per user issue. As I said, it is only a bad place if you have friends which are scum, I'm sure that if you had an account it wouldn't be as bad as you think it is. I know mine is a clean and friendly account.
@nylath Thanks. I only get heated about it because of past experiences with Facebook (guys trying to hit on my daughters, they have enough bad stuff in real life), but I agree it is a good tool to keep in touch. I just want a safe reliable site for my kids to use and just have fun. :)

Facebook is great, although there are sometimes when you do need to block people or similar, but that's how the Internet is. And as you say, there is a massive issue with the privacy settings on there, but in some ways it comes down to PEBKAC ;-)
